Album Review: Road to knowhere

If Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was having a 2018 reboot ( like many classic are nowadays), Tommy Guerrero's, Road to Knowhere would definitely make it onto the soundtrack. With the classic trip-hop sounds Guerrero is known for, Guerrero garners new sounds for his 10th album from genres like “Afrobeats, Ethnio-Jazz, Highlife Spiritual Jazz and dusty funk 45’s” in order to create an album that will take you to a journey and not just a destination.

What makes Guerrero’s music so unique is the lack of vocals in his albums, yet there's nothing missing here. Guerrero has the ability to paint vivid concepts of each song using melodic guitar solos with an intricate layering of sounds created with his use of a loop repeater. For this album, however, each song has us feeling as if we are on the road to knowhere. Knowhere can be thought of as the ultimate destination because it is both “here,” yet not anywhere. Guerrero portrays this idea of living in the moment.
